You Didn’t Deem It Fit To Give Me Any Offer Except 6-month Token For My Wife, Comrade Banabas Cries On Seun Fakorede

Published

The Pioneer President of Ibarapa Students’ Association, Mr. Olawuyi Taiwo Victor (Comrade Banabas) has expressed frustration on how the immediate former Oyo Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Engr. Seun Fakorede completed his tenure without any benefit in his favour other than his wife was placed on monthly stipends that lasted for 6 months.

Peoples Conscience gathered this in the screenshots made available on Ibarapa Youth Summit by Comrade Banabas, showing his message to the erstwhile Commissioner on Wednesday, September 13th, 2023.

He registered his disappointment on how the Youth Commissioner jettisoned him and others who waded in to defend him against all odds and stumbling blocks that threatened his appointment in 2019.

Comrade Banabas had on Friday said expectations of people, amongst whom he numbered himself were high when they stood by and fought for Seun Fakorede to resist efforts of PDP leaders that protested his appointment as Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports by Governor Seyi Makinde in 2019.

In the screenshots provided by Comrade Banabas, he recounted on how he tried to call attention of Hon. Seun Fakorede’s to how his office was not benefiting him and others that supported him in the turbulent moments of the struggle but the ex State honourable was not looking at his side.

Comrade Banabas also clarified that a brother of Hon. Seun Fakorede from his home community, Idere was speculating that he was a member of council with a monthly salary of N180,000 but all he benefitted was his wife placed on monthly stipends for 6 months when he deserved better.

The message reads: “My Hon, I wish to inform you that you never offended me by using all benefits in your government without recourse to how I and other Ibarapa youths supported you during the chaotic beginning.

“I tried all best to draw your attention but you did what pleased you and your friends.

“Clarifications: Youth brother from Idere was telling people up and down that I was a member of council with N180k monthly salary for four years.

“I actually deserve better but it’s clear to your conscience that you didn’t deem it fit to give me any offer except token for 6months for my wife.

“I choose not to fight you because you can change your attitude later and become a better person in terms of keeping agreement, in terms of remembering the beginning.

“How you sent me and my friend to beg all warring Ibarapa leaders, including Chief Adeegbe who eventually blessed you.

“You never remembered that my friend again when opportunities abound.

“You can’t determine what I can become too. God owns every opportunity.

“I wish you best at Federal level. I can never wish you bad. Senior Pastor Comrade Banabars.”

Speaking on his efforts to support Seun Fakorede’s in bringing his appointment into fruition, Comrade Banabas said he met with the then PDP chieftain, Late Chief Adeegbe at Igboora to defend Seun Fakorede on mountain of allegations levelled against him.

“Baba claimed that during the campaign in May 2019, APC security which your Dad worked for had killed some youths at Igboora and government has not done anything for the kids and wives left behind and your announcement was a shock. I told Baba Adeegbe who was a patron to FIBSA when I was President that you are our member.

“Secondly, Baba said that boy is not known by Ibarapa people, we would well here at all, we assured all leaders, including Chief Ogunjimi Ayete that Fakorede would do well for Ibarapa.

“We stood by you but when you and Alhaji Quadri began the journey to trade Ibarapa zone for persona enrichment, building houses and hotels at Bodija, flexing up and down, you never listened to again.

“Remember you even promised to place those family as complained by Baba Adeegbe on monthly token, but you failed” he said.

Comrade Banabas, on Friday, also accused Seun Fakorede of living large by amassing wealth and luxuries during his time as the Commissioner, claiming that the ex Commissioner for Youth and Sports built 3 Star Hotel from “their sweat.”

“Our going must be altered if I must prove my innocence of your treasury lifestyle. Instead of you to help us in Ibarapa, you were busy amassing wealth and romancing celebrities all over the places” he added.

The 45-year old student leader said the amount he collected from Seun Fakorede who was 27 years old as at 2019 that he was appointed as one of the State Honourables could not add up to N100,000 throughout the moments they were together.

“The Seun Fakorede, it is time to put records of our relationship straight. I had wasted enough time, enough money with my friend during your chaotic days. But when it’s time for reaping our efforts, you turned us down. I can boldly tell you that with all my efforts, time and energy, I didn’t owe you up to N100,000 throughout our relationship.

“And with our efforts, you are now the owner of a 3 Star Hotel from all our sweat. If you don’t be careful, we will release more of assets you dubiously acquired” Banabas said on Friday.

Meanwhile, Comrade Banabas and Seun Fakorede had both confirmed that the former’s wife enjoyed an offer of casual employment for the period of six months in the State Ministry of Youth and Sports when the latter was the Commissioner.
