Hashtag #EndKidnappingInIbarapa Trends On Facebook And Whatsapp

With a view to stopping the spate of kidnappings in Ibarapa land, the indigenous people of the region have taken to social media to express their displeasure over the menace with the hashtag: #EndKidnappingInIbarapa.

#EndKidnappingInIbarapa campaign emerged on social media barely two days after a well-known farmer identified as Odugbemi Saheed (Asikolaye) was kidnapped along Tapa-Igangan road while returning from his cattle farm around 7:00pm last Saturday.

IdereUpdate authoritatively gathered that incessant kidnapping has become the prevalent order of the day in Ibarapa as the right authorities in the region have chosen not to be responsible and responsive.

Akinyemi Akintayo who is a lecturer at Oyo State College of Agriculture, Igboora on Sunday, 10th of May wrote an open letter to the SOS to Oyo State Governor citing persistent kidnappings in Ibarapa land

Also, another Kabir Okegbenro who is a National Director, Media & Publicity, National Association of University Students had also written an open letter to the governor of the state on the menace of kidnapping in Ibarapa land.

PRESIDENT TINUBU RETURNS FROM UK VACATION

President Bola Tinubu arrived back in Abuja on Saturday, concluding his two-week vacation in the United Kingdom.

The President landed at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport at 7:20 pm, where he was greeted by top officials, including:

– Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila
– National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu
– Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun
– Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Bagudu
– Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu
– National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje

During his vacation, President Tinubu briefly visited Paris, France, for an important engagement on October 11.

Before departing for the UK on October 2, his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, stated that the President would use the vacation as a working retreat to reflect on his administration’s economic reforms.

President Tinubu’s return marks the end of his yearly leave, and he is expected to resume his presidential duties immediately.

PC Announces Six Edition of Ibarapa Debate Competition

Peoples Conscience, an online newspaper, has unveiled its prestigious Ibarapa Debate Competition sixth edition, inviting senior secondary school students from public and private schools in Ibarapa Land to participate.

The competition commences with an online screening exercise, culminating in a grand finale on January 2, 2025. Top performers will demonstrate their debating prowess, vying for prestigious awards.

The innovative idea was initiated to promote academic excellence, critical thinking and teamwork among senior secondary school students in Ibarapa Land.

The organisation called on parents and lovers of good education to key into the initiative to achieve its ultimate purpose for the growth and development of the region.

The organisers further stated that the modality for the sixth edition will be released very soon, reiterating that the screening exercise for the sixth edition would be done online.

Idere Hills to Witness 5,000 Tourists in Guinness World Record Attempt

In what promises to be a historic event, the picturesque Idere Hills in Idere town, the very centre of Ibarapa region, Oyo State is set to welcome a minimum of 5,000 tourists in a single tour come March 2025. The event, which aims to break the Guinness World Record for the largest number of tourists visiting a destination at once, is being spearheaded by Tojum Hospitality in collaboration with various public and private organizations.

Mr Sunday Olugbenga, CEO of Tojum Hospitality and initiator of the monumental project, emphasized the significance of the event, calling for the support and participation of hiking enthusiasts and adventure seekers to achieve the record-breaking feat.
